Robb Nicolay

Robb Nicolay is 27 years of age and is from Torrington, Wyoming home of the 2 shot goose hunt that is held annually in December. For a living, Robb works as a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad. When it comes down to it, Robb's favorite game to hunt is waterfowl. Decoy placement and calling is an aspect of waterfowl hunting at which Robb feels he excels. Although Robb feels that he has a broad knowledge of decoy placement and calling, he feels that there is always more out there to learn. Robb feels that when a person thinks that they know everything about ducks and geese, that is when the birds will fool hunters the most.

Robb's favorite method of hunting waterfowl is being in a blind or pit with his father Larry Nicolay and the rest of his hunting partners. However, Robb feels that it is important to stay mobile to be able to be where the birds are whether it is using Finisher Blinds or Power Hunter blinds.

The calling scene is something new for Robb. His contest experience is limited but successful. In August of 2004, Robb placed second in the duck calling and sixth in the goose calling at Cabela's Calling Contest in Sidney, Nebraska. Robb took first in the open duck at the 2005 Cabela's Calling Contest in Sidney, Nebraska and finishing 5th in the open goose. In 2006 Robb finished 4th in both the open goose and two man goose at Cabela's Fall Expo calling contest. Robb is also a proud member of Ducks Unlimited. He feels that the money that is raised from this organization gives a bright outlook for the future of waterfowl hunting. Along with being on the Zink Calls Pro-Staff, Robb also has the privilege of being on the Avery Pro-Staff.

Robb enjoys guiding the 2 shot goose hunt every year in Goshen Country. In 2005 Robb guided his hunters to a second place finish in which the hunters won new shotguns. When Robb is not guiding the 2 shot or out hunting for fun, he can be gound guiding for High Plains Wingshooters in Torrington, Wyoming.

The earliest memory that Robb has in hunting took place when he was seven years old when he witnessed his first group of mallards parachuting into the decoy spread. The reason that this sticks in his mind is because it was also the first group of mallards that he had. Robb credits his father and mother for introducing him to hunting and the outdoors. Robb has tremendous respect for his father and mother for getting him started hunting at a young age and everything that Robb has accomplished in hunting is due to his parents.

The region that Robb likes to hunt is around the Torrington, Wyoming area located in the Central Flyway. Living close to the Nebraska border also creates the opportunity for Robb to take in some of the finest waterfowl hunting the Cornhusker State has to offer. Robb looks forward to hunting new areas and hopefully one day will have the opportunity to take part in a hunt in Canada. When Robb is not hunting he can be found spending time with his wife Tara Nicolay and new born son Tyler Nicolay. Robb looks forward to having the opportunity to introduce and share a blind with Tyler in the years to come.

Robb is a young individual that is confident that he can bring new ideas and filming opportunities to Zink Calls. Robb will also bring added excitement and enthusiasm for the outdoors to the Pro-Staff. He also feels that he can introduce more youth to the outdoors because after all, the youth of today is the future for hunting. Robb also hopes to introduce new people to the most realistic calls on the market, Zink Calls. Finally, Robb feels that he can properly represent Zink Calls by competing and putting on seminars for hunters around his region. Robb is honored and proud to be apart of such a prestigious company.
